Love is Contagious

Love is contagious, especially when you lavish it upon yourself.

I was talking to a friend the other day and she told me I was glowing.  Well there are a few things that tend to make  me glow, cute babies, new love, and new shoes, come to mind.  Well no new babies here, and I can’t stay my behind out of the store so new shoes are on constant rotation…so it must be LOVE. It is! It is unconditional, unapologetic, unwavering love for myself.

I mentioned in a recent post there was nothing to be afraid of because everything was going to be ok. What do you think would happen if we were unafraid to truly love ourselves from the top of our heads right down to the pinky toe.  How wonderful would that be?

There is really no other way.  There is not a single soul out there like yours, and no one can do what you do the way you do it.  You may as well go ahead and fall absolutely head over heels in love with yourself. Take a love shower!

This attitude is fairly new for me and long overdue!  I pride myself on loving others, encouraging and lifting those around me, but I realized I did very little of that for myself. I was being so hard on myself. Then I thought, don’t I deserve the love and kindness I give to everyone else?  Of course I do!

When I’m struggling, I ask myself what would I say to my best friend? Would I put her down, or would you lift her up, would I  point out a flaw or remind her how amazing she is? I’ve decided that I would start this positive self-talk.   After any misstep or wrong turn, I will remind myself that everything is going to be ok, even better I’ll show myself some kindness and grace, and then remind myself that I can be pretty amazing. The very same thing I do for everyone else.

Love is something we can chose, just like we chose anger or hate.  Let’s choose love, choose it for yourself, shower yourself in it and bask in that LOVE glow!

I am not afraid to admit  still at (40 something and fabulous) I find myself browsing Forever21. This kimono is too cute and the sleeves are long enough!  These jeans are from Charlotte Russe, and these sandals from Sam Edelman are a constant #remix in my day to day wardrobe, and they go up to size 13.
